Will you celebrate Mother’s Day?

Mother’s Day, like Valentine’s Day, can be a very challenging holiday because we can have so many expectations. That day we expect to be loved by our family or our partner or our children.
On that day most of us moms expect to be appreciated, we expect to be spoiled by our loved ones, and we expect that our kids or partner will come up with the right gift or the right card. We want to be treated well, acknowledged for all that we do every day.
If we don’t manage our expectations, we can be in big trouble. We hear it regularly from our mom-clients that they felt sad or unseen or unheard (:.
So, instead of feeling disappointed can we help you create the best Mother’s Day ever?
Here are some tips:
1)    A few days before Mother’s Day, let the people around you know what you would like to have on that day, what would make you happy. Make sure you communicate this very clearly. This will set them up to win.
2)    As soon as you have told your loved ones what would make you happy, let it go; give up all expectations that anything will happen.
3)     Then make your own list of all that makes you feel good and appreciated.
4)     Decide to take good really care of yourself in the days leading up to Mother’s Day. Look at your list and choose your action steps: make space to take that walk; buy yourself the yellow flowers you like so much; take  half hour just for yourself; talk to a friend you love; take a bath and throw rose petals in the water for fun, maybe light a few candles in the bathroom; dress in clothes that make you feel happy.
5)    Make another list: of all the things you treasure about yourself. Come up with 20 things.
6)    On Mother’s Day itself, take a moment to value who you are; receive the love no matter what it looks like; notice random people smiling at you who are maybe wishing you happy Mother’s Day; maybe you can send and get texts from women-friends; pay attention to that beautiful hug from your child.
Celebrate the woman you are and have become. Celebrate the mom part of you that knows exactly what you do every day to raise your kids and create the best family possible. Hooray to you!
We wish you the best Mother’s Day ever! May you love and acknowledge yourself for all that you do to keep developing yourself and receive the love and respect others have for you.
We appreciate you!
With love,
Martina and Mooniek
